Feature Product: Microsoft Vine

Microsoft Vine is a beta application that allows you connect to people and groups whom are most important to you, at the most critical times. Vine offers a geographical representation of where your contacts are located and information about where those people are. With Vine, you can view news and public safety announcements within a radius of up to 20 miles of the places you have selected. Your contacts are organized into logical groups such as emergency contacts or family.

Vine is currently integrated into Facebook, and Twitter will soon be incorporated to Vine – letting you contact people in the quickest, most convenient matter.

To participate in the Vine beta, request an invite at http://www.vine.net.

Feature Product: Microsoft® Security Essentials

Microsoft has released a free software product that is an all-encompassing security suite meant to replace Windows Defender. Windows Defender is the default spyware removal tool built into Windows Vista and Windows 7 computers. Security Essentials was created to pick up where Defender left off, completing a full security scanning engine built upon the former Windows Live OneCare as well as aspects from Microsoft Forefront. Security Essentials is Microsoft's first fully 64-bit consumer scanning engine, and includes virus, spyware, and malware removal. This program is compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7. Security Essentials fully integrates into Windows (Microsoft) Update, ensuring you have the most recent engine updates and security definition files - every time you update your computer.

Please note, Windows Defender will be uninstalled when upgrading to Security Essentials on XP computers, and Defender's active service will be disabled on completion of the installation on Windows Vista and Windows 7 computers.
